On Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for Jammu & Kashmir & raised the issue of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in Lok Sabha.

The FM used the reference of the latest documentary, The Kashmir Files in her speech. “I want to say a bitter truth about Kashmir Files. People were brutally killed and forced to leave their own homes. In front of their husbands, wives were…I can’t even utter this. People were threatened,” said the minister in her speech.

Nirmala Sitharaman attacked the opposition party, Congress for its tweet on the Kashmir issue. Kerala Congress had stated that the exodus was the fault of the then BJP governor, this tweet was later deleted by the Congress. “Facts about #KashmiriPandits issue: After the terrorist attacks, instead of providing Pandits security, BJP’s own governor Jagmohan asked them to relocate to Jammu. A large number of Pandit families did not feel secure and left the valley in fear,” tweeted Kerala Congress.

The minister also reminded Congress of the incident where J&K separatist Yasin Malik was invited by the ex-prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh. “This separatist goes to a global TV channel and admits that he killed Indian Airforce officers and our Prime Minister shook hands with him?” the finance minister questioned the Congress.
