The Goa government on Sunday announced the expansion of the Covid-induced curfew in the state till 30 August. As per the earlier stated guidelines, the existing restrictions were scheduled to conclude by Monday.

However, the state government restricted large social gatherings in casinos, auditoriums and parks etc.

Following are some restraints and permits by the state government: 

  • Casinos, auditoriums, community halls, water parks, entertainment parks will be closed along with river cruises.
  • Spas and massage parlours will remain shut.
  • Cinema halls can be operated with only 50% capacity.
  • Schools are closed for students. School examinations and competitive examinations will be taken as per the government’s approval.
  • Social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural, marriage functions and other regional congregations, should store only 50% of the capacity.
  • Bars and restaurants can be open at 50% capacity from 7 am to 11 pm.
  • Indoor gyms will be available at 50% capacity.
  • Sports complexes (indoor or outdoors) will remain open with no spectators.
  • Inter-state movement is restricted except for –

1) Persons holding COVID negative test report of RT-PCR (72 hours before entering in Goa).

2) Persons visiting Goa for medical emergencies with legitimate proof.

3) Two drivers and one helper (associate) per goods vehicle.

Additionally, the following can visit Goa if either fully vaccinated or asymptomatic:

1) The workforce like industries, labour force, construction workers, etc.

2) For business purposes and employment generation.

3) Residents of Goa, but are stranded due to the pandemic chaos.

4) Residents of Goa who travelled outside work requirements/ medical reasons and returns after few days.

COVID status in Goa

Goa on Saturday reported 122 fresh Covid-19 cases and two deaths, taking the tally to 1,73,088 and the toll to 3,184, a health department official said.

A total of 111 patients were discharged during the day, which raised the count of recoveries in Goa to 1,68,989 so far, leaving the state with 915 active cases, he added.

“With 5,483 new tests, the total number of tests conducted in Goa has gone up to 11,60,150,” he averred.
