A horrifying incident of violence in the early hours of Sunday has shaken the Jaffarpur Kalan area of Dwarka, resulting in the death of one labourer and leaving another fighting for his life. The accused has been identified as Neeraj, a Head Constable currently serving with the Delhi Police Special Cell, who allegedly opened fire during a heated dispute late last night.

The incident reportedly took place at approximately 2:00 AM, following a late-night social gathering where the labourers were present. According to preliminary findings, an argument erupted over the noise levels at the gathering, which rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation. In the ensuing clash, the accused official, Head Constable Neeraj, allegedly brandished his service weapon and fired at the labourers, hitting two individuals.

Emergency responders were alerted immediately following the gunfire, and both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, one labourer succumbed to his injuries, while the second remains under intensive care with life-threatening wounds. The deceased’s body has been shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, and preparations are underway to hand over the remains to the grieving family once the legal formalities are concluded.

The Delhi Police have registered a formal case of murder and initiated a robust investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. A primary focus of the probe is determining whether the accused official was intoxicated at the time of the incident, a detail that could have significant legal ramifications.

At present, Head Constable Neeraj is absconding, and the police have launched a massive, multi-district manhunt to track him down. Specialized teams, including personnel from the Special Cell, are conducting raids at various suspected hideouts. Senior police officers have assured that this case is being treated as a high-priority matter, and the department has committed to a transparent investigation to ensure accountability for this grave violation of law and order.
