Security forces on Friday demolished the Pulwama residence of Dr Umar Nabi, the man accused of driving the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 that blew up near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday, officials told PTI. The demolition was carried out during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, they added.
The November 10 blast near the Lal Quila Metro Station killed 13 people and left several others injured, marking one of the most serious terror incidents in the national capital in recent years.
A video released by PTI showed the house being razed by security personnel in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Umar’s identity was confirmed after DNA samples recovered from the blast site matched with those of his mother. Once known as a highly accomplished medical professional, he is believed to have undergone radicalisation over the last two years. Officials also said he had joined multiple extremist messaging groups on social media.
More updates on the investigation are awaited.
