Actor Mihir Ahuja has unveiled the first glimpse of himself as a young Indian Air Force pilot for Netflix’s upcoming war drama Operation Safed Sagar.

Posting the video, he captioned it: “#ThisDayThatYear | May 26, 1999. In support of Operation Vijay, the Indian Air Force launched #OperationSafedSagar—a historic air campaign aimed at clearing Pakistani regulars and infiltrators from Indian territories along the Kargil sector’s Line of Control (LoC).”

He further noted, “Executed across one of the most challenging high-altitude war zones on Earth, the mission highlighted the bravery, accuracy, and expertise of the Indian Air Force, proving how crucial air dominance is to national security.”

The shared footage also offered a brief look at actor Jimmy Shergill dressed in an air force uniform.

On May 26, he took to Instagram to honour the heroes of the IAF’s historic Operation Safed Sagar, the air campaign launched in support of Operation Vijay during the 1999 Kargil War. His post coincided with the commemoration of the operation’s commencement, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of real-life pilots who flew in some of the world’s toughest high-altitude battlefields.

Created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, and directed by Oni Sen, Operation Safed Sagar is produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films with the support of the Indian Air Force. The series was filmed at actual Air Force bases and features real MiG jets and active IAF personnel, ensuring authenticity in every frame. It retells a lesser-known chapter of the Kargil War, focusing on the brave pilots who undertook the world’s highest air operation in history.

The series is set to stream on Netflix in 2026, with an official release date yet to be announced. Fans are already praising the first look for its emotional weight, patriotic spirit, and jagged authenticity, especially the powerful performances promised by Jimmy Shergill and Mihir Ahuja as they honour the real heroes of Operation Safed Sagar.
