The controversial Pune Porsche crash case has once again triggered nationwide outrage after a viral video allegedly showed businessman Vishal Agarwal celebrating his bail with family members and friends, prompting sharp reactions from the family of one of the victims killed in the 2024 crash.
The video, which surfaced online this week, reportedly shows Agarwal dancing with relatives shortly after the Supreme Court granted him bail in March 2026 in connection with allegations of evidence tampering linked to the high-profile case.
In the viral clip, Vishal Agarwal is allegedly seen wearing flower and currency-note garlands while dancing inside what appears to be a restaurant or banquet venue. His son the juvenile accused in the fatal Porsche crash is also seen lifting him during the celebrations, while family members clap and dance around them. The Bollywood song “Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Dost Ko Salaam Karo” reportedly played in the background during the gathering.
The video has reignited public anger surrounding the Pune Porsche crash, which took place in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area on May 19, 2024, when a luxury Porsche allegedly driven by a minor under the influence of alcohol rammed into a motorcycle, killing two software engineers, Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa.
Reacting strongly to the viral video, Suresh Kumar Costa, father of deceased victim Ashwini Costa, accused the family of mocking ordinary citizens and questioned the effectiveness of India’s legal system.
“It must be a practice in their society to kill two people and then celebrate,” Costa said while speaking in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
“They are mocking the common citizens. Law is locking the common man because it is the law which grants them provisions to avoid punishment,” he added.
Costa also criticized the legal protections available to juveniles and said the current system was failing to create fear of law among offenders.
“There is no fear of law anymore. If one is awarded punishment by the High Court, they are let go by Supreme Court. This encourages crime,” he alleged.
Demanding stricter legal provisions, Costa further said, “Until laws like those in Muslim countries blood for blood are brought in India, nothing is going to improve.”
He also called for cancellation of bail granted to the accused family members.
“His bail should be revoked and his parents should be jailed. If it comes before the Supreme Court, they should not be granted bail,” he said.
The Pune Porsche crash case had earlier sparked nationwide criticism after the Juvenile Justice Board initially granted bail to the teenager within hours of the crash with conditions including writing an essay on road safety. Following public backlash, the juvenile was later sent to an observation home while investigations widened into alleged attempts to tamper with blood samples and manipulate evidence.
Police had accused Vishal Agarwal and his wife of attempting to conceal evidence of alcohol consumption and allegedly pressuring the family driver to take responsibility for the accident.
A Supreme Court bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan granted bail to Vishal Agarwal on March 10 after observing that he had spent nearly 22 months in jail, while also directing him not to contact witnesses connected to the case.
No official response has yet been issued by the Agarwal family regarding the viral celebration video or the criticism that followed.
