Efforts by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to mediate the dispute over Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3 have drawn no response from the actor’s side, with the body now revealing that even a meeting involving top industry names failed to break the deadlock.
FWICE has been asking Ranveer Singh to come to the table for a discussion with Don 3 director Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani to understand the last-minute fallout and the actor’s decision to exit the film. However, Ranveer Singh has shown no interest in having this conversation and has not spoken on the matter publicly or privately with the federation, FWICE president B.N. Tiwari told Business Upturn exclusively.
Speaking about why the situation is concerning, Tiwari said an industry meeting was organised by the Producers Guild, where senior figures attempted to bring the two sides together and persuade the actor’s camp to engage with the process. He said the effort went unanswered. “There was no reply from their side,” Tiwari said, adding that the actor’s representatives conveyed that they would “maintain dignity and remain silent.”
Tiwari further revealed that during the Producers Guild meeting, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar and several other respected industry names sat together and tried to get a response from Ranveer Singh or his team, but were met with silence. “A lot of trying and convincing was done; however, this bore no result,” Tiwari said.
Tiwari said he was not certain whether Ranveer Singh attended the mediation meeting himself or sent a representative.
The account adds to a picture of a hardening deadlock. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh over his exit from the Excel Entertainment film, which was announced in August 2023 with the actor unveiled as the new Don. Tiwari has said the federation wrote to the actor three times asking him to discuss the matter, and that a letter later arrived from his side stating that the dispute did not fall under FWICE’s jurisdiction.
Tiwari said his central frustration is that Ranveer Singh has not explained why he walked away from the project. He said the actor should, at the very least, put his reasons in writing so that the producers’ side could be heard fairly. He also said no fight or altercation had been reported between the parties, and that communication between them had remained cordial.
Ranveer Singh has not publicly commented on his exit from Don 3 or on the FWICE directive. The “remain silent” position described by Tiwari suggests a deliberate decision by the actor’s side not to turn the matter into a public dispute. Business Upturn has reached out to Ranveer Singh’s representatives for their account of the meeting and the wider issue.
