A 34-year-old Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, a native of Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, was among the 12 people who lost their lives in the Red Fort car blast that shook the national capital on Monday evening.

The explosion, which occurred around 6:52 PM near the Red Fort Metro Station, claimed 12 lives and left over 20 others injured. The impact of the blast destroyed several vehicles and caused widespread panic in the busy area.

Authorities confirmed that Kumar was stationed near the Red Fort when the high-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) detonated. He was among those critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at LNJP Hospital.

The Delhi Police have invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and continue to investigate possible terror links behind the attack.

Kumar’s family in Amroha has been informed, and officials from the Uttar Pradesh administration are coordinating with Delhi Police to assist in the transportation of his body.

The blast, which has led to a nationwide security alert, comes amid intensified crackdowns by anti-terror agencies following recent recoveries of explosive materials in Faridabad.
