Borosil Renewables Limited, India’s leading solar glass manufacturer, announced that its board has approved a revised capacity expansion plan of 600 tonnes per day (TPD) during its meeting held on May 16, 2025. This expansion will be executed through the establishment of two furnaces of 300 TPD each (SG-4 and SG-5), at an estimated investment of Rs 950 crore.
This move is an enhancement of the company’s earlier plan announced in December 2024, where the proposal was to set up either two furnaces of 250 TPD each or a single furnace of 500 TPD. The company noted that the favorable imposition of anti-dumping duty on solar glass imports from China and Vietnam, effective from December 4, 2024, has created a level playing field for domestic manufacturers, prompting the revision.
According to the company’s filing, the new furnaces are expected to be commissioned between October to December 2026. The investment will be financed through a combination of equity, debt, and internal accruals, as deemed suitable by the management.
The company expects that the expanded capacity will significantly boost its production volumes and sales, driven by the anticipated growth in demand for solar glass in the domestic market.
The company currently has a total installed capacity of 1,000 TPD. With the new project, the capacity will rise by 600 TPD, further strengthening Borosil Renewables’ leadership in the domestic solar glass segment.
