VA Tech Wabag Limited, a global water technology leader, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming India’s first operational corporate office to receive triple recognition from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). WABAG House, the company’s corporate headquarters, has been certified for IGBC Net-Zero Water, Near Net-Zero Energy, and Platinum Re-Certification, setting a benchmark in sustainability practices.
The IGBC Net-Zero Water certification recognizes WABAG House’s efforts in harvesting 100% of its rainwater, while also replenishing the environment with 2.7 times the water it consumes. The Near Net-Zero Energy certification highlights the office’s exemplary energy efficiency, achieving an Energy Performance Index (EPI) of under 80 kWh/sqm/year and sourcing 78% of its energy needs from renewable sources, with plans to transition to 100% renewable energy soon. The IGBC Platinum Re-Certification further cements its commitment to green building practices.
WABAG House is not only a symbol of corporate excellence but also a beacon of environmental sustainability, with a pledge to become “Zero Waste” by 2025 and “Zero Carbon” by 2028. These certifications align with the company’s long-term vision of innovation-driven sustainability.
In a special ceremony, Mr. Rajiv Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director of VA Tech Wabag, received the prestigious plaque from Mr. C. Shekar Reddy, National Vice Chairman of CII-IGBC. Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for sustainable transformation within the industry, with WABAG leading the way for other corporations to follow suit.
