In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique was shot while sitting in his black car in Bandra East, Mumbai. The 66-year-old politician was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The assailants, who remain unidentified, fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Baba Siddique, a well-known figure in Maharashtra politics, had a long career that spanned over four decades. He had served three terms as the MLA for Bandra West and held various ministerial positions in the state government. Earlier this year, he made headlines when he left the Congress party and joined the NCP.

Siddique was admired for his efforts in bridging communities and was particularly famous for his annual Iftar parties, which were attended by top Bollywood stars and political leaders.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently hunting for the attackers. Two suspects have been detained for questioning, and authorities are examining possible motives behind the attack. Siddique is survived by his wife Shehzeen and two children, Zeeshan and Arshia. His son, Zeeshan Siddique, is currently the MLA for Bandra East.
