Tennis is the sport dominating the charts for highest paid athletes so is the case in 2020 with Female athletes. 9 out of 10 women athlete were from Tennis who had highest earnings in 2020 according to the US Research magazine Forbes.
Naomi Osaka tops the list with a earning of $37.4 million just ahead of fellow Tennis Star Serena Williams with $36 million. Osaka’s major source of income comes from the deal with Nike which reportedly pays her $10 million annually, the deal which won her over Adidas. Osaka also has 15 different endorsement partners including global brands such as Nissan Motors, Shiseido and Yonex.
The current world No 1 Ashleigh Barty is third on the list with the income of $13.1 million.
The United states International Footballer Alex Morgan is the only non Tennis athlete to make it to the list with the earning of $4.6 million, Morgan earns around $4.2 million through endorsements deals with the likes of brands such as Nike, Coca Cola, Volkswagen and AT&T.
Osaka and Williams have broke the record of earnings annually which was set at $29.7 million by the Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova, Interestingly the list by Forbes which has 100 highest earning athletes Osaka and Williams are the only 2 women representatives in the list.
