As per the Registrar of Companies filings accessed by Moneycontrol, former Executive of Facebook-owned WhatsApp, Neeraj Arora, is set to rejoin the One97 Communications board, which is the parent organization of Paytm, as an additional director ahead of digital payments firm’s Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Arora served US-based WhatsApp for seven years i.e. from 2011 to 2018. According to the LinkedIn profile of Arora, along with his position at WhatsApp, he worked as Paytm’s board member from 2015 to 2018.
In the year 2018, shortly after the founder of Noida-based Paytm Vijay Shekhar Sharma criticized WhatsApp’s UPI (Unified Payments Interface) on the social networking platform Twitter, media reported his exit from Paytm as a board member. Meanwhile, he left WhatsApp the same year as well.
Apart from Neeraj Arora, one of the early investors of the firm Mukul Arora, who is also a partner at Elevation Capital, has quit from Paytm’s board of directors too. However, Paytm has appointed Vivek Mathur as an alternate director on its board and will be replacing him.
Last week, the company’s President Amit Nayyar, Chief Human Resources Officer Rohit Thakur along with three vice presidents had resigned from their positions at Paytm.
Ash Lilani, the managing partner of Saama Capital has been appointed as an independent director of the online payments firm.
