Lok Sabha Speaker urges MPs to uphold democratic traditions ahead of Winter Session

The Winter Session of Parliament begins today, December 1, 2025, with the government preparing to table several key reform bills in the Lok Sabha, including two major proposals to replace the GST cess on tobacco and pan masala.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also expected to introduce The Manipur GST (Second Amendment) Bill, the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, and the Health Security and National Security Cess Bill.
This short 15-day session is set to open with a packed legislative agenda as the Opposition gears up to raise concerns over electoral roll revisions across 12 States and Union Territories.
Today also marks Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s first day chairing the Rajya Sabha.
