On Friday, Chief Minister K Palaniswami announced that SP Balasubrahmanyam’s funeral would take place with police honors.
The body was transported from SPB Nungambakkam’s residence to his Thamaraipakkam farmhouse, with scores of fans trailing behind the van.
The van stopped at numerous locations for fans and politicians to pay their due respect. The police reported it being a challenge to control the crowds.
“The funeral should commemorate today,” SPB’s relatives said.
According to sources, SP Balasubrahmanyam died fighting COVID-19 which he had contracted on August 5.
