Madhubala was born on 14th February,1933. On Madhubala’s birth anniversary, let’s remember the actress who set the beauty and acting standards so high for the industry.

Even today, other actresses in this industry take inspiration from the refined actress, Madhubala. She entered the film industry at a very tender age of 9 and earned herself the title of ‘Baby Mumtaz.’ Her first work was the 1942-film Basant.

For her beauty, she was famous as ‘Venus of Bollywood’ and Marilyn Monroe of Bollywood. Madhubala in her career spanning 20 years did approximately 70 movies. 80% of her movies weee a blockbuster hit.

She did her Bollywood debut with film Neel Kamal opposite Raj Kapoor, at the age of just 14.

Some of her best works in Bollywood are Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Kala Pani, and the masterpiece, Mughal-E-Azam.

Talking about her personal life :

Madhubala passed away at the age of 36 as she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. “Main koi do saal mein marne wali nahin   hoon. Doctors will invent a cure,” she’d tell her father. Even after hearing the news, she didn’t quit acting as it was her first love.

Initially her name was Begun Mumtaz Jehan Dehlavi. After working in a film in 1947, she gained immense love as ‘Madhubala’ from the audience. Actor-producer Devika Rani suggested her to change her name to ‘Madhubala’

She met Kishore Kumar during the making of the movie ‘Dhake Ki Malmal’ in 1956. She accepted the proposal of Kishore Kumar who adopted Islam and took up the name Karim Abdul to marry her.

When doctors said that she had only two years to live; Kishore Kumar left Madhubala at her father’s home saying that he couldn’t look after her due to his outdoor tours. He bore the whole expenses of her treatment and used to visit her after every two months. Though the actress didn’t live long, she has given this industry some masterpieces.
