An IndiGo flight operating from Madinah to Hyderabad was forced to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport early Thursday after an alleged bomb threat, according to airport sources. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 058, was carrying 180 passengers and six crew members when it was diverted mid-route.
Airport authorities immediately initiated full emergency protocols upon landing, with security agencies conducting thorough checks on the aircraft and passenger belongings. Further updates are awaited from officials.
This incident comes just two days after another IndiGo flight, travelling from Kuwait to Hyderabad, received a bomb threat and was diverted to Mumbai on December 2 as a precautionary measure.
The disruption adds to IndiGo’s ongoing operational turbulence, as the airline faces one of its most severe meltdowns in recent years. Since Wednesday, over 250 flights have been cancelled, leaving thousands of passengers stranded across the country. The situation has prompted emergency meetings with the DGCA and a public apology from the airline, which is currently working to stabilise its network.
