Shares of Waaree Energies surged over 4% in early trading on Tuesday following the United States’ decision to impose steep anti-dumping and countervailing duties on solar equipment imports from four Southeast Asian nations — Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. As of 9:15 AM, the shares were trading 4.34% higher at Rs 2,550.10.
The US Department of Commerce announced fresh tariffs reaching up to 3,521% after concluding a long-standing investigation initiated under former President Joe Biden. The move aims to counter alleged unfair subsidies and dumping practices by manufacturers from the targeted countries. These new duties will be applied in addition to earlier tariffs introduced during the Trump administration, further disrupting the global solar supply chain.
