The Indian equity market closed on a weak note for the fourth consecutive trading session on January 13, as major indices extended their losing streak. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, both witnessed significant declines, marking another challenging day for investors.

At the close of the trading day, the Sensex tumbled 1,022.77 points, or 1.32 percent, to settle at 76,356.14. The broader Nifty 50 index mirrored the downward trajectory, plunging 344.05 points, or 1.47 percent, to close at 23,087.45.
