Fans are eagerly speculating about the fate of I’m a Virgo, the bizarre comedy miniseries birthed by Boots Riley and starring Jharrel Jerome. This quirky tale dropped all seven episodes on Amazon Prime Video back on June 23, 2023.

Centered around Cootie (Jharrel Jerome), a towering 13-foot-tall Black teenager in Oakland, California, who’s been kept under wraps by his aunt and uncle until he’s stumbled upon by a bunch of teenage political rebels, the show has carved out a unique niche.

With its blend of surreal humor and social commentary, it’s no wonder viewers are left wondering if the saga of Cootie will continue in Season 2.

Is I’m a Virgo Season 2 Happening?

“I’m a Virgo,” initially planned as a miniseries, has left fans wondering if there’s more to come after its quirky debut season on Amazon Prime Video. Executive Producer Michael Ellenberg hinted at the potential for continuation, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that the series was designed with future seasons in mind.

“We are certainly hoping for one and aiming for one, but it’s too early to tell. But it is built to go on,” Ellenberg said, acknowledging the mystical world of Oakland portrayed in the show. Despite budget constraints that trimmed Season 1 by 60%, Boots Riley, the series creator, revealed plans for additional episodes for a potential second season.

“We have been working on the ‘first episode’ and additional episodes for a potential ‘second season,'” Riley explained to IndieWire. He noted that Season 1 would have wrapped up many storylines but left room for further exploration in Season 2. Actor Jharrel Jerome, who plays the towering protagonist Cootie, expressed uncertainty about the series’ future amid industry disruptions but hinted at potential plot developments.

“The rash is definitely a point, but unfortunately, if I say something about it, it is going to kind of ruin the possible continuation of the story,” Jerome teased, referring to a mysterious element in Cootie’s storyline. Actress Olivia Washington echoed enthusiasm for returning to her character, Flora, under Riley’s creative vision, emphasizing Riley’s unique storytelling prowess.

While fans await news of a second season or potential sequel, “I’m a Virgo” remains available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, keeping audiences hooked on its blend of absurdist comedy and Oakland’s mystical allure.
