With a “Adults Only” classification, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie OMG 2 for an earlier release. According to reports, the movie involves masturbation and discusses the issue of sex education in Indian schools.
Additionally, the CBFC requested 15-20 changes since the religious angle would offend the sensibilities of the Indian audience. Currently, a report claims that the censor board requested the producers to change Akshay’s role as well.
Koimoi claims that the movie won’t be able to receive approval in time for its intended release on August 11. The CBFC has requested that the character of Lord Shiva played by Akshay Kumar be changed to a doot (messenger of Lord Shiva).
According to a source who spoke with the entertainment portal, the producers will need to edit or cut multiple scenes where Akshay Kumar is depicted as Lord Shiva, who has a blue skin.
OMG 2’s teaser was released earlier this month. In the teaser, Akshay is portrayed as Lord Shiva, who comes to aid Kanti’s family when they experience a major tragedy, while Pankaj could be seen playing the part of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, who worships Lord Shiva with the deepest devotion. A lawyer is portrayed by Yami Gautam in the movie.
The movie is a follow-up to “OMG: Oh my God,” which starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. Akshay played the part of Lord Krishna in the first movie.
In a separate matter, the priest of the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain has asked for the removal of movie scenes that were shot there because of the certification as adult-only.
A priest at the Mahakaleshwar temple named Mahesh Sharma said to a news source, “The censor board has given ‘A’ certificate to the film ‘Oh My God 2’. This certification is reserved for films that have adult content. We demand that some scenes, which were filmed at the Mahakal temple, be removed as they might offend the religious sentiments of viewers.”
“If our demand isn’t met, we will launch protests across the country,” Sharma added.
On August 11, 2023, OMG 2—which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam—will be released. Amit Rai is in charge of directing the satirical comedy-drama movie.
