The Coronavirus pandemic in India showed the biggest spike till date as over 13,000 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra and the national capital Delhi witnessed a huge spike in their daily number of Coronavirus cases. Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh also witnessed an explosion in the cases.
In the last 24 hours, the states recorded 336 deaths. Maharashtra added 100 deaths while Delhi reported 65 fatalities on Thursday. The death toll of India stands at 12,573.
On the positive side, over 2 lakh patients have been cured of the Coronavirus infection. Over 52% of the total cases have recovered till date.
Maharashtra reported 3,752 fresh cases on Thursday, taking the state’s toll to 120,504.
A total of 100 patients succumbed to the Coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.
The state’s death toll stands at 5,751.
Delhi recorded 2,877 positive cases and 65 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
The state’s tally stands at 49,979 and the death toll at 1,969.
Tamil Nadu added over 2,141 new Coronavirus cases on Thursday.
With this, the state’s tally reached 52, 334.
Due to the rising cases, the state government decided to impose a 12-day lockdown in Chennai and other districts.
The lockdown has been extended till June 30 in containment zones. The malls, restaurants and religious places opened in other places in the first week of June.
