Donald Trump on Monday said the conflict involving Iran “will be over soon” but simultaneously warned Tehran that the United States could launch strikes “they have not seen before” if negotiations fail to produce an agreement.
Speaking during media interactions, Trump said ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran were continuing, while also stressing that Washington remained prepared for military action if a deal was not reached. “We will hit Iran like they have not seen before if a deal is not reached,” Trump said, according to multiple US media reports.
The remarks came amid continuing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme, regional ceasefire negotiations and maritime security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also confirmed that he had held what he described as a “positive” phone conversation with Vladimir Putin. While detailed information about the call was not immediately released, reports indicated that discussions included developments in West Asia and broader geopolitical stability.
The US President further emphasised America’s domestic energy strength, saying, “We have massive oil,” while discussing global energy markets and regional instability affecting crude oil supply routes.
Trump’s latest comments follow several days of heightened diplomatic activity involving the United States, Iran and regional intermediaries. Iran recently submitted a response to a US-backed proposal linked to ceasefire discussions and sanctions relief, though major disagreements reportedly remain unresolved.
Meanwhile, Iran has maintained that its nuclear programme is peaceful, while Israel and the United States continue expressing concern over uranium enrichment activities and regional security threats.
Global markets and diplomatic observers continue closely monitoring the situation due to fears that further escalation could impact oil prices, shipping routes and broader Middle East stability.
