Siemens Limited reported a mixed set of financial results for the third quarter, reflecting strong topline growth but a sharp decline in profitability on a year-on-year basis. The performance was impacted by margin pressure and a one-time exceptional loss linked to regulatory changes.
For the quarter under review, Siemens’ net profit declined steeply by 54.8% to ₹279 crore compared with ₹614 crore in the same period last year. The sharp fall in bottom-line performance was primarily attributed to higher costs and an exceptional loss of ₹74.3 crore arising from the implementation of the new labour code, which weighed on overall earnings.
Despite the pressure on profits, the company delivered healthy revenue growth during the quarter. Revenue from operations rose 14% year-on-year to ₹3,830 crore, up from ₹3,360 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The growth highlights steady demand across Siemens’ core business segments and continued execution of ongoing projects.
Operating performance showed moderate improvement, with EBITDA increasing 9.3% year-on-year to ₹422.4 crore compared with ₹386.4 crore a year ago. However, EBITDA margin softened to 11% from 11.5% in the year-ago quarter, reflecting rising input costs and the impact of operational expenses.
