Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued a detailed statement following the blast near Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, confirming that multiple agencies, including the NIA, NSG, and FSL, have been deployed for a comprehensive investigation.

Speaking late Monday evening, Shah said,

“This evening, around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives.”

The Home Minister revealed that teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch reached the site within 10 minutes of receiving the alert. He added that National Security Guard (NSG) commandos and National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials are now leading a thorough forensic and counterterror probe.

“Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras. I have also spoken to the Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge. Both are present at the spot. We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account,” Shah said.

The Home Minister further assured that investigations will cover every angle, and results will be made public once verified. He also confirmed that he will personally visit the blast site and LNJP Hospital, where the injured are being treated.

The blast, which occurred around 6:52 PM, has so far claimed 10 lives and left over 20 injured, according to hospital sources. The incident took place in a high-security zone close to Red Fort and Chandni Chowk, prompting an immediate high alert across Delhi, NCR, and Uttar Pradesh.

All key agencies remain on the ground, and forensic experts are examining debris and chemical samples to confirm whether an IED (improvised explosive device) was used.
