As the Faridabad IED investigation widens, new details are emerging from family members of those detained. The wife of the arrested Muslim cleric (Imam) has spoken out, saying she is unaware of the reasons behind her husband’s sudden detention.
“The police have taken away Imam Sahib. I don’t know why he has been taken away. The police never came to us before,” she told reporters, adding that her husband has been serving at the mosque for nearly two decades. “Imam Sahib has been serving at the mosque for the past 20 years. The doctor used to come here five times a day, every day, to offer namaz. He hailed from Kashmir,” she said.

The cleric’s detention follows the arrest of Dr Aadil Ahmad Rather, a doctor from Jammu and Kashmir’s Qazigund, whose interrogation led to the recovery of 300 kg of IED, an AK-47 rifle, and ammunition from Faridabad. Investigators are now probing the links between the doctor and the Imam, suspecting they may have coordinated activities related to the explosives.
Police have maintained that the arrests are part of an ongoing, multi-agency investigation into a potential terror network operating in Delhi-NCR, with further questioning and forensic analysis underway to establish the extent of involvement of those detained.
