A fresh reaction has come in from the family of Navjyot Singh, the Ministry of Finance official who died in the BMW accident near Dhaula Kuan on Sunday. Speaking to reporters, his cousin Shailendar raised serious questions about the conduct of the accused woman and her husband.

“First thing is that if she (accused) has made mistakes, whether it is before the accident, rash driving or after the accident. If there are mistakes, intentional and unintentional, and if the police find this thing in the inquiry, then definitely she has to pay the price,” he said.

He further pointed out that the injured should have been rushed to the nearest hospital with emergency facilities, but instead, they were taken elsewhere. “The logical choice in any accident, especially if you are trying to rescue someone, is always the hospital that is nearest to you and that has the infrastructure to handle emergency cases. If they did not take him there, what was their reason behind it? I really don’t know… but those decisions were wrong,” Shailendar added.

Police have seized the BMW and motorcycle involved in the crash, and both accused are currently admitted to hospital with injuries. An FIR has been registered and investigations are ongoing.
