New Delhi: Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, North Block, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a BMW car near Dhaula Kuan on Saturday evening. Singh was rushed to Nuelife Hospital, GTB Nagar, where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to eyewitnesses, a woman was driving the BMW that struck Singh’s two-wheeler. After the accident, she and her husband reportedly left the car at the spot and took a taxi to shift the injured to the hospital. Singh’s wife, who was riding pillion, was also injured in the collision and is currently under treatment.

Delhi Police said the BMW overturned after the crash, with the motorcycle coming to rest near Metro pillar number 67. The impact also caused the injured to collide with a bus passing nearby.

The vehicles have been seized, and the accident spot examined by the crime team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Police confirmed that the woman and her husband sustained injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment.

An FIR has been registered, and further legal action is being initiated.
