If you’ve been waiting (impatiently) for more Straw Hat shenanigans, you’re not alone. After Netflix’s live-action One Piece crushed it with Season 1 in 2023, fans have been counting the days until the crew sets sail again—and now we’ve finally got some solid updates on what’s coming in Season 2. Spoiler: it’s going to be wild.
Release Date: When Can We Expect Season 2?
Netflix has confirmed One Piece Season 2 is officially dropping in 2026. Yeah, we were all secretly hoping for a late 2025 surprise, but those rumors have been put to rest. At Tudum 2025, Netflix made it clear: 2026 is the target. Filming’s already wrapped in South Africa, and the cast even celebrated on the Going Merry set—which makes the wait a little more bearable. With Eiichiro Oda still involved and the showrunners aiming to top themselves, we’re expecting something worth the patience.
Cast: Returning Favourites and Exciting New Faces
Our main crew is all returning, thankfully. That means we’ll see:
-
Iñaki Godoy back as our lovable rubber-powered captain, Luffy
-
Mackenyu slicing it up again as Zoro
-
Emily Rudd bringing heart and smarts as Nami
-
Jacob Romero as the ever-dramatic Usopp
-
Taz Skylar cooking and kicking it as Sanji
But here’s where things get really exciting: Tony Tony Chopper is joining the crew! Yup, everyone’s favorite reindeer doctor is finally here, and he’s being voiced by Mikaela Hoover (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). Fans got a sneak peek during Tudum, and yep—he’s just as adorable as you imagined.
Season 2 is also adding a bunch of new faces, especially from the Baroque Works storyline. Here’s a quick rundown:
-
Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) steps in as Dr. Kureha, after Jamie Lee Curtis had to drop out
-
Mark Harelik plays Dr. Hiriluk, an important figure in Chopper’s past
-
Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) shows up as the mysterious Vivi
-
Joe Manganiello is stepping into the villain role as Mr. 0 (aka Crocodile)
-
Lera Abova plays Miss All-Sunday
-
David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3
-
Daniel Lasker and Camrus Johnson as Mr. 9 and Mr. 5, respectively
-
And Anton David Jeftha takes on the role of K.M.
Plus, familiar faces like Buggy, Koby, and Garp are all expected to pop back in.
Plot: What Adventures Await the Straw Hats?
Season 2 picks up right where we left off—with Luffy and the crew sailing straight into the Grand Line, the most dangerous and mysterious sea in the world of One Piece. The showrunners (along with Oda himself) have teased that this season will tackle some fan-favorite arcs from the early Grand Line saga.
Here’s what we’re heading into:
-
Loguetown: The last stop before the Grand Line, full of surprises (and a run-in with Marine Captain Smoker).
-
Reverse Mountain / Twin Capes: Expect a wild entrance into the Grand Line and a massive whale named Laboon.
-
Whiskey Peak: A too-good-to-be-true town that turns into a trap.
-
Little Garden: Dinosaurs, giants, and chaos. What more could you ask for?
-
Drum Island: The emotional core of the season—this is where Chopper’s story kicks in, and we meet Dr. Kureha and Hiriluk.
All of this builds up toward the Arabasta storyline, so yeah—big things are coming. Expect more intense battles, deeper character moments, and that signature One Piece blend of heart, humor, and adventure.
