Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has revealed plans for a sequel to Mom, the 2017 critically acclaimed thriller that marked Sridevi’s final lead role. This time, the movie could feature his daughter, Khushi Kapoor, who is steadily carving her path in Bollywood.
Speaking at the IIFA 2025 green carpet, Boney Kapoor expressed his pride in both his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, for embracing versatility in their careers. “Khushi is following in the footsteps of her mother. Sridevi was a top star across multiple industries, and I hope both Khushi and Janhvi achieve the same level of perfection,” he shared.
Boney confirmed that he has been watching Khushi’s recent projects, including The Archies, Loveyappa, and Nadaaniyaan, the latter of which is currently streaming on Netflix. He added that after wrapping up No Entry 2, he plans to work on a film with Khushi, and Mom 2 is a strong possibility.
Directed by Ravi Udyawar, Mom was a gripping drama that saw Sridevi in a powerful role as a mother seeking justice for her daughter. The film was a box office success, earning the late actress a National Award for Best Actress. If Mom 2 comes to fruition, it would be a significant tribute to Sridevi’s legacy while marking a major milestone in Khushi Kapoor’s career.
