Kernex Microsystems (India) Limited has secured a significant contract from South Eastern Railways, Kolkata, for the implementation of the Kavach safety system. The contract, valued at ₹325.33 crores (including GST), has been awarded to the KERNEX-MRT Consortium, where Kernex is the lead member. This project involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Kavach over 688 RKM on the GO & GO routes in the Kharagpur and Chakradharpur divisions of South Eastern Railway.

Kavach is an advanced railway safety system designed to enhance operational efficiency and prevent accidents by ensuring automatic train protection. This initiative aligns with the Indian Railways’ commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving safety standards. The awarded contract is domestic in nature and is set to be completed within 1,000 days from the appointed date.
