Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd. (SEML) reported a fire incident at one of its Independent Power Plant units in Binjkot, Raigarh, on the evening of February 25, 2025. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
The company stated that due to swift emergency response measures, the fire was quickly contained, and all personnel on-site remained safe. The company confirmed that property damage is limited based on preliminary assessments. However, a detailed evaluation will be conducted once the affected machine is opened.
While one unit of the plant is temporarily shut for restoration, the other unit continues to operate normally. The temporary halt is expected to cause a production loss until the unit restarts. SEML reassured stakeholders that its assets are fully insured, including coverage for potential profit losses, subject to standard closure period conditions.
