BMW’s flagship electric SUV, the iX, has received an update that includes major powertrain modifications and a new design. BMW’s Dingolfing factory in Germany is scheduled to start production in March 2025, with a global launch scheduled for the spring of the same year.
Exterior and Interior Updates
With new headlights and vertically oriented LED daytime running lamps, the facelifted iX has a bolder, more muscular front appearance. Its sharp front bumper and large closed-off grille enhance its dominating presence. With options for M multifunction seats and the most recent iDrive 8.5 software on the central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, the interior of the cabin maintains its high-end appearance. A Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, heated seats, Driving Assistant Plus, and adjustable LED headlights are standard.
Powertrain and Performance Enhancements
BMW introduces new variants: the xDrive45, xDrive60, and M70, replacing the previous xDrive40, xDrive50, and M60. These upgrades bring significant improvements in power and efficiency. The xDrive45 now delivers 402 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, with a WLTP range of 602 km. The xDrive60 boasts 536 bhp and 765 Nm, with an impressive range of 701 km. Charging capabilities are enhanced across the range, with the xDrive45 supporting up to 175 kW DC fast charging, while the xDrive60 and M70 support up to 195 kW. All models also offer 22 kW AC charging.
