On Tuesday, S&P 500 and the NASDAQ hit all-time closing highs on Tuesday. However, the Dow ended the session lower.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.21%, to 28,248.44, the S&P 500 gained 12.34 points, and the NASDAQ Composite Index added 86.75 points to 11,466.47.
Of the major sectors in the S&P 500, six ended the session higher, with communications services enjoying the largest percentage gain.
Although the Dow opened higher Tuesday after the US and China affirmed that the first phase of the trade deal between the two countries is still on. Following the release of consumer confidence numbers, the Dow finished the day at 28,248.44.
