Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas & Renewables have joined forces to develop India’s Green Hydrogen-powered steel facility. This groundbreaking INR 321 crore project is backed by the Government of India, which is providing 50% capex incentives. The facility will use 100% green hydrogen, representing a major leap towards sustainable steel production.
The plant, which has a capacity of 50 tons per day, will use direct reduced iron (DRI) technology and is projected to minimize CO emissions, aligning with the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director, Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd., commented on this significant development, saying, “We are proud to lead such a transformative project in India’s steel industry. This facility not only demonstrates our commitment to green hydrogen and sustainable practices but also places us at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition. We look forward to contributing to the nation’s renewable energy goals and collaborating with the Government of India and key stakeholders to ensure the success of this initiative under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.”
