During a recent interview, Lee Hyeri, the idol-turned-actress, expressed her concerns about how the ongoing dating controversy involving Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee might overshadow the release of her upcoming film, Victory.

On August 7, 2024, Hyeri sat down for an interview at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to discuss her film. She shared her worry that the attention around the dating scandal could divert focus from Victory, a project she is deeply passionate about. Hyeri also touched on her feelings about her own Instagram post, which had the caption “That’s interesting,” and apologized for the confusion it caused.

Hyeri explained that her post was made from a personal perspective rather than a professional one, reflecting her feelings as an ordinary person rather than as a public figure. She reiterated her regret over the incident.

Victory is set in 1999 and centers around a high school cheerleading group in a small village. The film delves into the lives, passions, and youthful experiences of these spirited cheerleaders. Alongside Hyeri, the film features Park Se Wan, Lee Jung Ha, and Jo Aram in prominent roles.

Earlier this year, Hyeri was in a long-term relationship with Ryu Jun Yeol, which ended in early 2023. When news broke of Ryu Jun Yeol’s new relationship with Han So Hee, Hyeri made a social media post that led to backlash after Han So Hee responded to it. Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol had planned to discuss their relationship publicly, but the news of their breakup came on March 16, 2024, with the two confirming their split shortly after.

Following the breakup, both Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol exited their joint project Delusion.
