On Wednesday, the Congress party released the second list of candidates for Chhattisgarh assembly elections. 53 candidates have been given tickets in the second list. The Congress party has given ticket to Shailesh Pandey from Bilaspur, Pankaj Sharma from Raipur Rural, Vikash Upadhyay from Raipur City West and Mahant Ram Sundar Das from Raipur City South.

Congress has so far announced the names of 83 candidates for the 90-member assembly of Chhattisgarh, and soon the list of remaining candidates will be announced.

Reacting to the second list, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel congratulated all the candidates who have been given ticket by the party. He wrote on X, “The second list of candidates for Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 has been released today. Best wishes to all the candidates.”

In Chhattisgarh, assembly elections are to be held in two phases for 90 assembly seats. The first phase of voting will be held on November 7 and the second phase of voting will be held on November 17. The results will be declared on December 3.

Earlier, Congress had released the first list of 30 candidates, which included the names of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo and some other senior leaders. Chief Minister Baghel is contesting from his current constituency Patan, where his relative Vijay Baghel from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is challenging him. Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deohas also been made a candidate from his current assembly constituency, Ambikapur.
