According to the travel portal EaseMyTrip.com, AirAsia and IndiGo have now started crediting air travel ticket refunds into the accounts of travel agents. This move would help travel agents to flexibly return the refunds to the customers.

“All passengers who want a refund instead of a credit shell would be refunded. Currently, AirAsia has done this with EaseMyTrip.com and we have refunded money to the customers in their respective bank accounts even though we received money from AirAsia in our ticketing wallet.

“… other companies are refunding the money in their own wallet to the customers. Now, IndiGo has also started refunding in our agency wallet balance, which we can use for buying fresh tickets with IndiGo, so we are refunding the money to customers in their bank accounts,” said EaseMyTrip CEO Nishant Pitti.

For 2 months, starting from March 25, domestic flight services remained suspended due to the national lockdown. The domestic flights were resumed on May 25.

Pitti said the travel agents now have the option to either give a refund to the customers or keep the money in credit shell, which is like a wallet where the money can be used for future bookings.
