Seeing BTS member Jin debut as an actor has long been a dream for many fans. His charisma and natural screen presence—highlighted in his variety show appearances, especially in Run Jin, where he played a hero taking down villains—have only fueled speculation about a possible transition into acting. Now, Jin has finally addressed the question himself during a playful yet revealing interview with Vanity Fair, offering insight into whether an acting debut might be in his future.

In a segment aired on June 10, Jin took part in a lie detector test, where he was directly asked if he had secret plans to start acting. Without hesitation, he responded, “None.” However, the machine quickly called his bluff, marking the answer as deceptive. This prompted laughter from Jin, who maintained his stance and insisted he had no intentions of becoming an actor, even though the results told a different story.

Pressed further, Jin elaborated on his reasoning. He clarified that while he’s flattered by how fans perceive his looks, his reluctance to act isn’t rooted in vanity. “Acting requires a lot of work and effort; it’s an intimidating challenge to take on,” he explained. This time, the lie detector confirmed he was telling the truth, giving fans a glimpse into his genuine reservations about the craft.

The conversation didn’t stop there. When asked if he would consider acting in a K-drama, Jin once again gave a firm “no,” reinforcing his lack of interest. Even when the interviewer dangled the idea of working with renowned filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, the Oscar-winning director of Parasite, Jin’s answer remained unchanged: “I still don’t want to do it.” He jokingly admitted later in the interview that he may have gotten away with some lies, leaving fans to read between the lines.

Despite his denials, many fans remain hopeful. Jin’s acknowledgement of acting as a serious, effortful craft—rather than dismissing it entirely—left room for interpretation. Some believe that his current workload is the real reason behind his hesitation, and if his schedule ever becomes more manageable, there’s still a slim chance he might reconsider. For now, acting may not be on the table, but the idea of Jin lighting up the screen remains an exciting prospect that fans continue to dream about.
