Season 3 of Beef is not yet approved. As of mid-May 2026, a short time ago shortly after Season 2 premiered on Netflix on April 26, 2026, Netflix has not made a formal announcement about a potential renewal for Season 3.
Because Beef is an anthology series, each season has a new cast and story that is based on characters who have escalating conflict (or “beefs”) with one another. Season 1 features Ali Wong and Steven Yeun (Emmy winners for performances in this series) as well as additional cast members; Season 2 stars Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac & many others.
Although Beef’s creator/showrunner Lee Sung Jin initially planned to have at least three seasons of the series with ideas for more “beefs” as well as different types of characters, he recently indicated he would be “completely happy” ending the series with Season 2 because it took such an emotional toll to produce. Though he said he would “never say never,” he also stated he would only come back to it if he found sufficient inspiration to do so.
The renewal process for Netflix’s Beef has been slow because Season 1 was released as a breakout hit during 2023, but was not formally renewed until almost a year later in October of 2024, and Season 2 was released almost 2 ½ years later than Season 1. Therefore, any decision regarding Season 3 will most likely be based on how Season 2 performs in terms of viewership and reception; it could take weeks to months before any type of decision has been made. In the event that Season 3 gets approved, an estimated commencement for production would be no earlier than 2028.
Lee is currently busy with other projects, including writing/directing a film with Steven Yeun and contributing to the upcoming X-Men reboot. No cast, plot, or production details exist for Season 3.
Season 3 is possible but uncertain—far from guaranteed. Fans should enjoy the existing two seasons, which have been critically acclaimed. Updates will come from Netflix or Lee if momentum builds.
