Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has officially joined the cast of The Batman: Part II, marking one of the biggest casting additions to the upcoming DC sequel starring Robert Pattinson as Batman. The confirmation came after months of speculation surrounding Johansson’s involvement in the film.
Director Matt Reeves recently revealed multiple returning and new cast members through social media posts while production on the film officially moved forward. Reports now suggest Johansson will play Gilda Dent, the wife of Harvey Dent, who will reportedly be portrayed by Sebastian Stan.
Scarlett Johansson joins Batman universe after Marvel success
Johansson’s casting is being viewed as a major move for DC and Warner Bros. because the actress was previously one of the most recognizable faces in the Marvel universe through her role as Black Widow. Industry reports said Johansson had been searching for a darker and more grounded role after years of playing superhero characters in Marvel films.
The actress has recently expanded her career into darker dramas and thriller projects including Paper Tiger and an upcoming The Exorcist reboot directed by Mike Flanagan. Her addition to Reeves’ Gotham universe now adds even more star power to one of DC’s most anticipated films.

The sequel will see Pattinson return alongside Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell. Reports also indicate the story may focus heavily on Harvey Dent and Gotham’s growing corruption after the events of the first film and the HBO series The Penguin.
The movie recently entered production stages with Reeves confirming the sequel will take place during winter, giving Gotham an even darker atmosphere than the 2022 film. Early teasers and set reports have already sparked heavy fan discussion online about possible villains and storylines.
