Country music icon Dolly Parton shared an emotional interview reflecting on life after the passing of her longtime husband, Carl Dean, who died in March this year. The couple had been together for 60 years, having married in 1966—the same day Dolly moved to Nashville to chase her dreams.

In the interview with Today, Parton tearfully spoke about the immense adjustment she’s facing. “I’ll do fine, and I’m very involved in my work, and that’s been the best thing that could happen to me,” she said, “But I’ll always miss him, of course, and always love him.” She described Carl as a wonderful partner who kept a private life despite her global superstardom.

May 30 would have marked their 59th wedding anniversary. Parton announced Carl’s passing on social media, asking for privacy during her grieving process while thanking fans and loved ones for their support.
