Jessica Chastain is officially returning to her horror roots with a new spine-tingling project. As reported exclusively by Deadline, the Oscar-winning actress is set to star in a film adaptation of Incidents Around the House, a novel by Bird Box author Josh Malerman. The film will be directed by Rob Savage, known for his atmospheric horror hits Host and The Boogeyman.

The upcoming psychological horror is being developed by genre powerhouses Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Universal Pictures. The script comes from Succession writer Nathan Elston and follows a young girl living in a haunted house who becomes fixated on a creepy presence she calls “Other Mommy.” Though most plot details remain tightly under wraps, the story is expected to dive deep into eerie family dynamics and psychological terror.

Chastain, who previously left her mark on the horror genre with roles in Mama and It: Chapter Two, brings major star power to the film. Widely recognized for her award-winning performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, she’s also known for her work in Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar, and The Martian, and continues to shape stories off-screen through her production company, Freckle Films.
