Dieter Bohlen’s journey began on February 7, 1954, in Berne, West Germany, where he was born as Dieter Günter Bohlen. He grew up in East Frisia before his family later relocated to Eversten. During his youth, he became involved with the Socialist German Workers Youth and the German Communist Party. He pursued education at the Wirtschaftsgymnasium der Berufsbildenden Schulen in Oldenburg-Haarentor. After obtaining his Abitur, Dieter followed his parents’ advice and pursued studies in business administration at Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen, completing his degree in 1978.
Bohlen’s music career commenced while he was still a student. He worked as a songwriter for the label Intersong in the late ’70s. Alongside this, he formed the musical duo Monza with Holger Garbode, and also released singles under the pseudonym Steve Benson.
