Taking to her Instagram Stories, Dolly Parton shared Beyoncé’s announcement with a simple yet inviting message, accompanied by a link to stream her own 1974 rendition of “Jolene”: “Play the original while you wait for Beyoncé’s Jolene.”
Meanwhile, amidst the buzz, Beyoncé remained coy about whether her version of “Jolene” on “Cowboy Carter” is a cover or a collaboration with Parton. The tracklist also teased collaborations with country legends Willie Nelson and Linda Martell, although Beyoncé opted to rework the original lyrics of “Jolene” without directly collaborating with Parton, while she did collaborate with Nelson.
