Manchester United are set to incur a significant financial cost following their decision to part ways with manager Rúben Amorim, with the Premier League club agreeing to pay a compensation package worth around £10 million.

According to reports from The Athletic, the compensation fee is payable because Amorim was dismissed while still under contract, which was due to run until 2027. As per the agreement, United will pay approximately £9.5 million directly to Sporting CP as compensation for terminating the manager’s deal.

In addition to that figure, Amorim has already earned £7.8 million from his contract since taking charge at Old Trafford. The club will also be required to pay a further £10.05 million as a payout covering the remainder of his contract, taking the overall financial impact to a substantial level.

When all associated costs are combined, Manchester United’s total expenditure related to the managerial change since November 2024 is estimated to be around £27 million. The figure highlights the growing financial implications of frequent managerial turnover at elite clubs, particularly when long-term contracts are terminated prematurely.
