Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar have officially announced Operation Sindoor, a high-octane drama chronicling India’s decisive military response to the deadly 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.

The project, directed by Agnihotri and co-produced by T-Series and I Am Buddha Productions, draws inspiration from Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s (Retd) book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan. It promises a research-driven narrative based on extensive inputs from the Indian Armed Forces.

On April 22, 2025, terrorists linked to The Resistance Front (an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba) struck in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing at least 26 tourists in one of the deadliest attacks in the region since Pulwama 2019. India responded with Operation Sindoor from May 6-10, 2025, launching precision strikes on nine terror camps and infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation exposed vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s nuclear posturing and underscored India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism

Agnihotri, known for hard-hitting films like The Kashmir Files, The Tashkent Files, and The Vaccine War, described the project as more than entertainment. “This is not just a film. It is a revelation,” he stated, emphasizing facts, strategic clarity, and the courage of India’s forces. Bhushan Kumar added: “Some stories are not chosen; they choose you… This is a story that demands to be told with honesty, courage, and responsibility.”

The announcement has generated buzz, coming amid multiple film projects inspired by the operation. Unlike others, this one stands out for its foundation in Dhillon’s insider account and multi-agency research.

No cast or release date has been announced yet. As Bollywood increasingly turns to real national security stories, Operation Sindoor aims to blend edge-of-the-seat drama with a respectful salute to the Armed Forces’ professionalism
