Crypto Market Live Updates Today, September 23, 2025: $23B Bitcoin and Ethereum options set to expire

Around $23 billion worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum options contracts are set to expire on Friday, in one of the largest expiration events in history. Positions show wide bets ranging from protective puts below $95,000 to bullish calls above $140,000. Analysts suggest the expiry could trigger sharp volatility, with potential short squeezes or forced liquidations driving the next big move in crypto markets.

Binance has revealed Hemi (HEMI) as the 43rd project on its HODLer Airdrops page. Users who subscribed BNB to Simple Earn or On-Chain Yields products between Sept 17–19, 2025 are eligible for the airdrop, which will be distributed to spot accounts ahead of trading.

HEMI will be listed on Binance on Sept 23, 2025, at 12:00 UTC, with trading pairs against USDT, USDC, BNB, FDUSD, and TRY. The listing will also carry a seed tag.

A Toronto kidnapping case involving a $1 million Bitcoin ransom has led to a 13-year prison sentence for main accused Keyron Moore. The 2022 incident saw the victim abducted at gunpoint, assaulted, and coerced into paying in Bitcoin before escaping to alert authorities. Moore has already served three years of his sentence. Another accused, a minor, has also been convicted with sentencing due in October.
