US has unveiled revised rules for H-1B visa that would create stringent provisions for technology companies hiring workers. The rules are aimed for giving the first preference.
Last week, Congressman Mo Brooks from Alabama had proposed to pass a legislative bill. The American Jobs First Act seeks to stop employers from hiring foreign H-1B workers if they have recently, or plan to furlough their US workers.
US President Donald Trump H-1B ban was highly criticized by employers who could hire better talented workers in competitive salary package. The administration is aimed at making ‘Americans first’ for employment prospects.
The plan is estimated to be implemented after a 60-day period. It would seek to require firms to make “real” offers to US residents before seeking to bring in foreigners and add new compliance mechanisms.
“We have entered an era in which economic security is an integral part of homeland security,” Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said in a statement.
