PTC Industries, a leader in advanced manufacturing and materials technology, has recently informed exchanges that the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish an aerospace-grade Titanium Sponge manufacturing facility. This initiative will position PTC and its subsidiary, Aerolloy Technologies, among the few global companies with an integrated Titanium manufacturing value chain. The facility will enable the production of Titanium Sponge, alloy ingots, forged billets, rolled bars, rods, sheets, plates, and precision castings.
Titanium Sponge is a critical raw material for Titanium alloys, widely used in aerospace, defense, and high-performance industrial sectors. Currently, only a few countries, including the United States, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Japan, have the capability to produce aerospace-grade Titanium Sponge.
Despite having the world’s third-largest reserves of Titanium ore, India has long been dependent on foreign nations for Titanium Sponge and its aerospace-grade products. This reliance creates a strategic disadvantage, particularly for defense and aerospace applications.
By establishing this facility, PTC Industries and Aerolloy Technologies aim to place India among the elite Titanium-producing nations. The project aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, strengthening India’s position as a global hub for advanced materials manufacturing.
Sachin Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of PTC Industries commented, “This MoU signifies an important step towards strengthening India’s Titanium industry. With Odisha’s support and our technological expertise, we aim to build a fully integrated Titanium manufacturing ecosystem that can cater to the evolving needs of global aerospace and defence industries. We appreciate the proactive efforts of the Government of Odisha in facilitating this opportunity and look forward to exploring the potential of this investment.”
